Mirai Kids Summer School is a hands-on summer program for preschoolers and elementary school children in Kanamachi, Katsushika City, Tokyo.

Children can enjoy science experiments, SDGs activities, inclusion-based learning, movement, crafts, and playful global experiences in a friendly local community setting.

This program is designed for families in Tokyo who are looking for fun, meaningful, and inquiry-based summer activities for children.

Through familiar natural phenomena and topics connected to the world, children will explore, try, think, move, create, and express themselves through playful activities.

Some sessions may also give children ideas for their summer research projects.

Each session will offer a different program, and children are welcome to join more than one session.

Children from preschool age to Grade 1 should be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Siblings outside the target age range are also welcome.


Program Details

Sessions 1 & 3: Waku Waku Science Lab

Science Navigator: Izumi Ryuou
Katsushika Kagaku Asobi Project

A fun science experience where children can enjoy, try, and think!

The program is planned to be easy for younger children to understand, while also giving elementary school children ideas for their summer research projects.

Please note:Science Lab sessions will be held in Japanese only.


Session 2: Global Inclusive Lab

Facilitator: Angeli Miyamoto

Experience the invisible world! Let’s feel the world!

Children will explore the ability to notice differences between themselves and others, and to imagine how others may feel.

This session features a child-friendly activity inspired by a Paralympic sport.

Through fun English-based activities, children will think together about:

What kind of society is comfortable for everyone?

This session is part of the “human rights learning” program under the Katsushika City Board of Education Group Learning Support grant.


Sessions 4 & 5: Global SDGs Lab

Facilitator: Angeli Miyamoto

Using nature, the world, and familiar everyday topics as themes, children will enjoy a hands-on program while also experiencing some English.

Through movement, thinking, and expression, the program will help children begin to see SDGs as something connected to their own lives.

The program is planned to be friendly and accessible for younger children.

For Parents and Guardians

Mirai Kids Summer School is a kids summer program in Tokyo designed for preschoolers and elementary school children.

This program is not designed for children to simply memorize correct answers.
Instead, it is an inquiry-based program that values children’s ability to think, try, notice, and feel for themselves.

Through science experiments, SDGs activities for kids, English-friendly communication, and an inclusion workshop for children, we aim to nurture children’s curiosity, expression, and understanding of diversity—important skills for the future.

Registration may close once the maximum number of participants has been reached.

If we receive a large number of applications, participants may be selected by lottery, or some applicants may be placed on a waiting list.
